Maybelline Lash Sensational Luxurious Mascara || Review

To kick off 2020, putting the past few months, which were pretty tough behind me, I finally chose to treat myself as some kind of a 'fresh start' with a huge beauty run and got some new makeup! Some of the products I’ve never used, but have been dying to try and the rest of the products I ran out of. I decided to wait a week after purchasing to write this so I could include some reviews of the products, showing you the most interesting ones & what I think about these products so far. Let's start with the first one!

While I’ve been on the luxury mascara bandwagon for some time now, I do still love to try out drugstore mascaras occasionally. There is something to be said about only spending a tenner on something that needs to be tossed out every 2-3 months! When I saw the Maybeline Lash Sensational Luxurious Mascara had not only an exclusive fanning brush with ten layers of bristles, but also promised a volumizing formula which is infused with precious oils for softer, denser lashes, ophthalmologist tested, ( perfectly for my lashes currently causing trouble for unknown reasons ) I knew I needed to try it. After all, spending a third of the price on a mascara just as good as it sounds would be too good to be true… so is it?

Step 1. Sweep the Fanning Reservoir Brush from the root to tip of lashes. 

Step 2. Use the narrow tip to easily reach the tiniest lashes. 

Step 3. Do not let mascara dry in between coats. 

Step 4. Easily remove mascara with Maybelline Expert Eyes® 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover.

I'm going be honest for whatever reason I never bought the old version of the Lash Sensational Mascara, even though I know a lot of people who love it also mentioning that I own around 50 mascaras myself. I'm unfortunately unable to compare it. However, my intention to buy the Maybelline Lash Sensational Luxurious in the first place were some recommendation by loads of people experiencing problems with sensitive eyes same as I.

The fanning brush reaches from the longest to the smallest of lashes volumising every layer and filling the lash line instantly, saving me having to apply eyeliner to finish the look ( I noticed that after I already took the pic down below, please don't mind that ) . From the get go my lashes looked amazing with just one coat, but it doesn't stop there. The formula doesn't clump or need multiple coats and that is what really sells a mascara to me. Application is easy and the result is long individual lashes with some volume, with only very minor flaking throughout the day; exactly what I need for 10 hours of uni/learning/work... every day. I say some volume is given because I didn't find I got much with this as it's not that buildable. Having said that, I'm quite happy with going for only one-two coats as my lashes are still very sensitive after all. I wouldn't recommend any more than two coats because lashes can get quite spidery and I'm not a fan.

Another selling point for mascara for me personally is how easy I can remove it, so as you can imagine I try to avoid waterproof ones at all costs. The Lash Sensational Luscious is washable and removal couldn't be easier. This is a "tubing" mascara formula - the kind that melts down in warm water (with help from a makeup remover). I've read a few reviews here and there and some people found this sort of removal easier, others not so much. But, something everyone is going to love? The formula is fragrance-free, which is particularly good news for those with sensitive eyes just like mine.

Now on to the burning question; would I buy that version of the Lash Sensational Mascara again? Well, there certainly are pros and cons to it (as with any product). If lengthened lashes are your end goal and you don't mind very occasional flaking, then definitely give this a try. I'd rank it as a respectable, but not flawless mascara. It's nicely after all and I'll continue using it until the problems with my eyes will become better, hopefully anytime soon, but it has to be said that my eyes tolerate the product very well. I would even repurchase so whilst it may not be my favourite Mascara, it's close and I'm glad I have picked it up.
